Trail training

We're back fellow runners, we're back!

The next race in my calendar is a night trail, which I've never tried before! I'm excited! If you think running around in an unstructured and not very flat forest seems questionably smart, the best time to do it certainly wouldn't be when it's also pitch black. But I've outsmarted the darkness and will wear a headlamp.

Training for that event includes a slightly amped weekly program of strength and running, and I've excluded the swimming for a while now to really focus on fartlek (speed play) up hills and that kind of stuff. Plus the strength is more aimed during this period. This is my rough and flexible program:

M Distance run
T Legs
W Intervals
T Distance/fartlek
F Core
S Long run, trail
S

I run to work except for mondays when I run home. Can you relate? It's all very efficient and the distance is perfect.

What's your best trail training tip?
